INDOOR TRACK & FIELD

The HU indoor track and field program spent Friday competing at the Fall Creek Pavilion as part of the Marian Invitational. Next weekend Huntington will return to the venue for the Crossroads League Championships.

Several Foresters hit the provisional mark for NAIA Nationals. Emily Tedder punched her ticket in the mile with her time of 5:06.23. She took second at the meet and her time is the seventh fastest in HU history. She also placed third in the 1000 meters in 3:02.96.

Malarie Pinwar also hit the B standard in the mile by clocking in at 5:06.61 which earned her forth place accolades over the weekend and the No. 8 spot in the Huntington record books. She also finished behind Tedder in the 1000 meters, taking fourth in 3:06.23.

Erica Xayarath’s second place leap of 5.74 meters in long jump is a season-best and bettered her NAIA standard. Rounding out HU’s qualifying marks was Zach Collins in the 200 meters. The speedster raced to second in 21.73 which proved a B standard.

Lydia Baker made her way into HU’s history books in the 400 meters with her time of 1:02.66 which is the ninth fastest time for a Forester. Other Foresters to claim a spot on a Huntington top ten list includes Parker Baker in the 60 meter hurdles (#2, 8.82), Reece Gibson in the 1000 meters (#7, 2:36.60) and Cobin Till in the 200 meters (#9, 21.73).

“There were some great performances for us in the middle distance on the women’s side,” said Coach Austin Roark. “That group is really starting to come into shape as we near postseason competition.

“On the men’s side, Zach ran a good 200m; we all know he can run fast in that event. We’re excited to compete next week back in Indy to try to win some Crossroads League titles.”

The Crossroads League Championships will be hosted by Marian and are slated for February 16-17.
