Mentoring Meals

We’re trying something new this semester to encourage quality interaction between students on the Huntington, Indiana, campus and our teaching faculty, called Mentoring Meals!

Students have the ability to invite a faculty member to meet for lunch in the Dining Commons. This is designed for students to talk with a faculty member about a class, get career advice, or just think through life’s questions. The faculty member gets a free lunch, and the student gets a great conversation. (If the student is on a limited meal plan or no meal plan, their lunch is free, too!)

Process:

  • Student makes an appointment with a professor to meet for lunch and lets the professor know what they want to talk about
  • Meet at the DC and go to the check-in stand together. Say you’re there for a Mentoring Meal.
  • The faculty member’s lunch is free. If the student is on Meal Plan A or B, they can just swipe their card. If the student is on Meal Plan C or doesn’t have a meal plan, their lunch will be free as well.

Guidelines:

  • Mentoring Meals can only be used at Habecker Dining Commons
  • A student can initiate up to three Mentoring Meals per semester
  • The program is designed for one or two students to have lunch with a faculty member to discuss a specific topic
