MEN’S BOWLING

Junior standout Leland Jones delivered a performance for the record books at the Addison USBC Sectional, capturing the individual title while also posting the highest score across all four sectional sites in the nation.

Jones dominated a loaded field of 285 bowlers at the Addison site, and when stacked up against all competitors nationwide, his performance rose above an 827-bowler field spanning every collegiate level — NCAA Divisions I, II, III, NAIA and junior colleges.

The Lexington, South Carolina native rolled a blistering 1,476 pins over six games for a 246 average, securing not only the sectional crown but the top series in the country.

With his breakout performance, Jones becomes the first bowler in Huntington program history to advance out of sectionals as an individual, marking a milestone moment for the Foresters.

Up next, Jones will compete at the Intercollegiate Singles Championships, scheduled for April 13-18 at The Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

The national event features the top 24 men and top 24 women advancing from four sectional qualifiers, all competing for individual national titles.
