Saturday: 260+ High School FFA Students on Campus

Saturday, March 14, HU and the Haupert Institute for Agricultural Studies are honored to host the annual Indiana FFA District 6 Leadership Contest. HU has hosted this event for the past six years and welcomes more than 260 high school students from school districts within Miami, Wabash, Huntington, Wells, Adams, Grant, Blackford, and Jay Counties. Set-up begins late Friday afternoon in preparation of the event starting at 7:00 a.m. Saturday and concluding early that afternoon. Just so you are aware, parking lots around the DSH, LBH, and Becker will be very full with school buses and more than 75 judges from around the region. The event uses every classroom and a couple of labs in DSH (not the lower level) and LBH for this event. Please be aware of this if you utilize those rooms for teaching. We would also encourage your department to set any recruiting items/flyers/banners/etc. outside of your department and around the lobbies in these buildings to advertise your program(s). While the students are FFA members, many will consider studying something other than agriculture in college. Thanks and if you have any questions about the event, please contact Tamra Williams (twilliams@huntington.edu) or Nate Perry (nperry@huntington.edu).
