MEN’S TENNIS

The 16th-ranked Huntington men’s tennis team wrapped up its spring break trip Friday afternoon with a stop at the UC Tennis Complex where the Foresters squared off against #7 University of the Cumberlands.

In a tightly contested Top-20 showdown, the Patriots ultimately claimed the 4-1 decision, although the scoreline hardly reflected how competitive the match proved to be as several bouts featured extended rallies and tightly played sets. The Foresters’ lone point of the afternoon came courtesy of Mateo Batista at #4 singles. Batista turned in an impressive performance, defeating Thibaud Vivier in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3, to put Huntington on the board.

With the loss, Huntington moves to 8-2 on the season. Huntington now turns its attention to its next test as the Foresters return to action next weekend. HU will travel to Oakland City on Saturday to take on the 15th-ranked Mighty Oaks.
