WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

The Huntington University women’s volleyball team continued its hot start to the 2025 season, sweeping Indiana University East in straight sets (25-22, 25-12, 25-21) Tuesday night at Platt Arena. With the win, the Foresters improve to 6-0, marking one of the best starts in program history.

Huntington’s aggressive serving and balanced attack were the difference-makers, as the Foresters tallied 13 service aces and posted a solid .221 team hitting percentage.

Leading the charge offensively was Trevyn Terry, who put down 8 kills on just 14 attempts, hitting an impressive .500 while adding two blocks. Maisyn Robrock added 6 kills and one block assist, while Leah Carter chipped in with 4 kills and a solo block to round out the front-line dominance.

Defensively, Layla Meyer anchored the back row with 13 digs and tied for the team lead with 4 aces. Senior setter Amanda Ailes dished out 8 assists and matched Meyer with 4 aces of her own.

The Foresters used a commanding 25-12 win in the second set to gain full control of the match and never looked back. Huntington has dropped only two of 20 sets so far this season. Their depth continues to shine, with contributions coming from nearly every rotation.

“Our blocking improved tonight after intentionally working on it in practice and addressing it in film sessions,” said head coach Kelsey Herber. “I was proud of the way we executed our game plan and had a balanced attack. We are off to a great start and we are looking forward to competing and growing this coming weekend.” 6-0 marks the best start for Coach Herber, who is in her seventh year leading the Forester program.

The Foresters return to action this weekend as they travel to Upland to compete in the Amber McClure Fayerweather Memorial Tournament hosted by Taylor University. Huntington will take on the University of Saint Francis (Illinois) and Pikeville University on Friday at 1:30pm and 6:30pm respectively.
