Faculty Advisors: New Course on Creativity
Faculty Advisors: This may not be on your radar, so I just wanted to mention it. I’ve sent out a notice to students today via the Coffey Break about a new “special topics” course on creativity (PY452CRE) offered fall 2025 through the psychology department. If you have an advisee you think might be interested, please let them know. I’m happy to take questions (bbenjamin@huntington.edu). The class will meet Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30-10:45 a.m. in Loew-Brenn. Due to the potentially wider appeal of the subject matter, we’re opening it up beyond psychology majors and minors, but class size is limited. Here’s the course description:
Psychology of Creativity examines theory and research related to creativity: What is it? How do you get it? Can you increase it? What are the personal and societal benefits to being creative? In addition to examining creativity through a number of lenses, including biology, development, intelligence, personality, environments, and cognition, students will learn to assess and develop their own creativity through projects that apply the literature to real-world problems.
