OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD
The HU outdoor track and field program was part of a long-standing tradition over the weekend by competing the 120th annual Indiana Little State Championships held on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan. The scored event saw the HU women took 7th out of 14 teams with 49.5 points while the Forester men enjoy a 5th place finish out of 17 teams with 74 points.
Jonathan Farinha dominated sprints as the 100-meter and 200-meter champion. He then joined forces with Zach Collins, Celestin Trambloy and Jayden Williams to not only win the 4×400 relay but hit the A standard to automatically qualify for nationals and set a new school record. Trambloy took first in the 400-meter hurdles with a provisional mark of 52.73. Jan Busam wrapped up Foresters’ top finishes by racing to a first-place finish in the 400 meters by clocking in at 48.09.
On the women’s side, Emma Schiffli broke her own school record in pole vault with a mark of 3.35 meters. Emily Tedder captured the 5,000-meter title while Erica Xayarath took first in long jump.
