WOMEN’S SOCCER

The Huntington women’s soccer team was on the wrong end of a 7-1 decision to #8 Spring Arbor Saturday afternoon at the Cougar Soccer Complex. SAU (9-2) is currently riding a six-game win streak which includes a perfect run in league play at 3-0.

With this loss, the Foresters drop to 5-3-4 overall, 0-2-2 in CL action.

Maria Cote Molina scored HU’s only goal when she blistered a shot just over the outstretched arms of the Cougar keeper into back netting on a restart right outside the box with just under 16 minutes left in the first half.

Cote’s fourth goal of the season knotted things up at 1-1 but Spring Arbor’s counterattack was lightning fast. Less than 30 seconds later, the Cougars retook the lead at 2-1 and never looked back. The Cougars backed their Top 10 ranking by unleashing for a season-tying seven goals. They came into the contest having outscored their opponents 36-9.

The Foresters return to King Stadium next Saturday to host Taylor at 1:30 p.m.
