The Huntington volleyball team celebrated their seniors Saturday afternoon but unfortunately that celebration was cut short thanks to the visiting Lancers of Grace College who left Platt Arena with a 3-1 win, 25-19, 25-18, 22-25, 25-15.

It marked senior Morgan Robrock’s final game in Platt Arena as the 5-11 setter nears the end of a fabulous career in which she has racked up 3,100 assists as only one of five Foresters in program history to surpass the 3K mark in dimes.

On this given night, Robrock filled the stat sheet with 24 assists, nine digs, six kills and 3.5 blocks.

With set three being Huntington’s highlight, Herber’s crew raced out to a 9-2 lead and never looked back to extend the match one more set before packing things up for the afternoon.

Robrock’s sister, Maisyn was her favorite target of the day as the 5-10 hitter finished with ten kills. Haley Kruse was a close second with nine put-downs. Kruse also tallied 11 digs for the double double.

Olivia Krahn and Nigella Reck shared defensive backline duties with 16 and 15 digs respectively while Makailah Thompson added 11. In addition to Robrock’s defense at the net, Leah Carter also posted 3.5 snuffs while Trevyn Terry claimed 1.5.

“Our seniors have been so special to Forester volleyball,” said Coach Kelsey Herber. “Morgan Robrock’s impact as an athlete, setter, leader, teammate and person has impacted this program in a beautiful way.

“Our managers Paige Wheeler and Tayler Bedow have served this team wholeheartedly and invested int eh lives of these girls. It’s an honor to know their hearts and be their coach.”

The Foresters wrap up the regular season with an overall record of 16-14. Sixteen wins is the most victories for a Forester volleyball squad since the 2009 season when HU went 17-16. Herber and crew finished conference play with a 6-12 record for the seventh spot in the CL standings. HU will travel to 2nd-seeded MVNU on Saturday for quarterfinal action of the league tournament.
