WOMEN’S GOLF

The Huntington women’s golf team wrapped up the fall portion of their schedule on a high note by finishing second out of seven teams by firing a 658 (334-324) at the Harbor Shores Intercollegiate.

After playing even with #24 Bethel on day one by turning in a 334, the Foresters shot ten strokes better on Tuesday but unfortunately the Pilots came back with 316 in the second round to win their own invitational with a 650.

When all was said and done, of the 41 golfers, HU nabbed three of the top five spots with Danielle Tinsley leading the way with a 159 (81-77) for third place. Kira Moore fired a 167 (81-86) for fourth place while Abby Sheehan rounded out the top five with a 168 (87-81). Grace Dill (85-84) and Lauren Slottke (89-81) shot within a stroke of each other by turning in a 169 and 170 respectively.

Aside from Tinsley’s score, the other four Foresters shot within four strokes of each other.

Team scores after Bethel (650) and HU (658), saw Aquinas (729) finish third followed by Spring Arbor (743), Olivet Nazarene (743), Cornerstone (773) and Indiana Tech (791).
