WOMEN’S GOLF

Junior Kira Moore fired a one-under-par 71 on day two of  the Battle at Brookwood to lead the HU women’s golf team to a second place finish on Huntington’s home course.

It was a banner day for Moore and her teammates. Individually she set a new program record for lowest 18-hole score (71) and lowest 36-hole score (147). As a team, the Foresters also rewrote the record books as their overall 36-hole score of 619 was a new program record while day two’s score of 300 also proved the best in the program for 18 holes.

Moore was deemed the low medalist for her two-day total of 147. Abby Sheehan (83-73) and Danielle Tinsley (80-77) shot within a stroke of each by turning in a 156 and 157 respectively. Grace Dill carded a 159 (80-79) while Madelyn Weaver rounded out HU’s top five with a 173 (87-86).

Other Foresters who got in on the action included Riley Kitson (89-86), Lauren Slottke (92-86), Myleigh Moon (88-92) and Akira Seals-Perkins (93-106).

The Foresters were edged out for the title by one stroke to Taylor who posted a 618. Grace finished third with a 645 followed by Mount Vernon (676) and Saint Francis (684).

HU is off for a few weeks before competing in the Battle at Blackthorn slated for September 29-30.
