VOLLEYBALL

The HU volleyball team lost in straight sets, 25-22, 25-19, 25-23, Wednesday night to Siena Heights at Huntington North High School. The loss is just the Foresters’ second of the season as they drop to 6-2.

Despite being outhit and out blocked, the Saints still found a way to edge past their hosts in three. The only glaring advantage on the stat sheet came behind the service line where SHU, who received votes in the preseason poll, committed three errors to HU’s 11.

HU finished with 38 kills to Siena Heights’ 35. Haley Kruse tallied a match-high 12 kills to go along with ten digs. Kortney Grimm added nine kills while Trevyn Terry put down six. On the other side of the net, Leah Carter posted three solo blocks while assisting three others for a total of 4.5 snuffs.

Morgan Robrock dished out 33 assists while logging seven digs and three kills. Olivia Krahn led the Foresters in digs with 11.

“Unfortunately, we never played to our fullest potential tonight,” said Coach Kelsey Herber. “We struggled to go on runs, and we didn’t achieve excellence in any specific area of the game.

“We made too many unforced errors and didn’t make adjustments quick enough. In practice the remainder of this week, we are going to work on serving, passing and defense so we can bounce back on our home court Saturday.”

The Foresters will debut in the newly renovated Platt Arena Saturday at 11:00 p.m. against Stephens followed by a 3:00 p.m. match against Oakland City.
