Forester Feed Fact 2: There are guidelines for what can (and can’t) go in your post.

Did you know that the Forester Feed and Coffey Break are both publicly available websites? In addition to appearing in your email inbox, every post is available online. Because of this, there are guidelines for what can and cannot go in a post.

The following elements are required:

  • A post title
  • A person responsible for the post*
  • A contact email for the person responsible (your email address is only stored internally)
  • Adherence to Huntington University standards and style (see the Style Guide)

The following elements are discouraged:

  • Personal contact information (such as non-HU email accounts or cell phone numbers)
  • Sensitive internal-memo-only information that should not be available to the public
  • Salutations such as “Good morning” or “Hello” at the start of a post — while they are not incorrect, they are unnecessary in this medium

Bonus Fact: In the Forester Feed, personal announcements such as items for sale or items wanted are reserved for publication on Friday.

*A person responsible for the post could be a person or an office. Our preference is to list both, like this: Nicole Manges – Office of University Relations. If your job title adds authority to your post, you could list your name like this: Nicole Manges, Content Developer. A period at the end is not necessary.
