Huntington senior Amber Elliott was deemed the best women’s bowler in the Crossroads League as announced at the league championships on Saturday.

The Northwood (Ohio) native was officially tabbed the Crossroads League Female Bowler of the Year for posting the highest average over the four regular season league tournaments. She knocked over 3,040 pins in 16 games for a 190.0 average.

Elliott was also one of five bowlers to be named First Team All-Conference. She has earned this honor each year which includes garnering Newcomer of the Year honors as a freshman when HU was part of the WHAC conference.

Joining Elliott on this short list of 2023 First Teamers was teammate Haley Tucker who registered a 2983 pin count for a 186.44 per game average which proved the fourth highest among her CL peers. For the senior from Springport (Ind.), it’s her first All-Conference praise.

As a team, Huntington finished second in the regular season team standings with 25,876 pins, just 446 pins behind first-place Spring Arbor.

After winning the inaugural Crossroads League Championships last season, the Foresters successfully defended their title on Saturday.

On the men’s side, freshman Jacob Perry had a great run in CL action to be voted the Newcomer of the Year and claim a spot on First Team. His 207.47 average over the course of the four league tournaments was the fourth highest in the Crossroads League.

As a team, the Forester men finished third in the regular season standings with a pin total of 28,150. HU capped off Crossroads League action to win the CL Championships, as the No. 3 seed, this past Saturday.

The Crossroads League also announced its Champions of Character award winners over the weekend which included Forester picks Emma Large and Connor Coogan. Coach Mike Shockey was tabbed the Champions of Character Women’s Coach of the Year.

Rounding out the list of postseason honors included student-athletes who have excelled in the classroom for having a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25. Twelve Foresters were among those named to the CL All-Academic Team. Those student-athletes were Connor Coogan, Jacob Perry, Dan Burzynski, Matt Foutz, Brooklyn Suzuki, Emma Large, Raegan Neuenschwander, Lilly Pryor, Katie Reyes, Katie Fraser, Amber Elliott and Kayli Iorio.
