Poverty Simulation
Dear Faculty –
The social work department is once again hosting the “poverty simuation” on Wednesday night, October 9th, 6 – 9 pm in the Habecker dining commons. Students will experience a simulation of what it is like to live in poverty for a three week period during these fast three hours of activity. This is a great opporutnity for awarding an outside class assignment or extra credit. The experience is based upon the writings of Ruby Payne in her publication, “Bridges out of Poverty”.
Students can email me directly with their intent to participate. I simply need an approximate number of participants for planning purposes.
Please direct questions to me as they arise!
