MEN’S SOCCER

For the second time this season, HU junior Higor Barbieri was tabbed the Crossroads League Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office earlier this afternoon.

Barbieri scored twice in a 3-1 double overtime victory over Taylor Saturday afternoon at King Stadium in quarterfinal action of the Crossroads League Tournament. After scoring the opening goal in the 28th minute, the Brazilian forward outwitted the TU keeper and a defender to log what proved the game-winner with two minutes left in the first OT period.

The crafty forward has racked up 14 goals this season, half of which have been game-winners. Barbieri and crew head to top-seeded Bethel on Wednesday for the semis of the league tourney. Kick-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
