WOMEN’S GOLF

The Forester women’s golf team had a solid showing over the weekend at Bethel’s Battle at Blackthorn by posting a 667 (337-330) to finish third out of eight teams.

Grace Dill tied for 6th by firing a 165 (86-79) to pace Davis’ crew. Abby Sheehan was one stroke back at a 166 (85-81) for 9th place. Danielle Tinsley shot an 84 each day to finish 15th with a 168. Kira Moore also posted a 168 (82-86) for a share of 15th place. Lauren Slottke carded a 178 (90-88) to round out HU’s scores.

“We are happy with a third-place finish, but as a team we had situations that didn’t go our way on the course,” said Coach Patrick Davis. “We fought hard this weekend on a course that got more challenging as the tournament progressed.

“We had some good things happen with Grace taking sixth for the first top ten finish of her college career and Abby finishing ninth for her first top ten as well. I’m excited to see what we are capable of scoring as the season progresses.”

Bethel kept the team title at home with a winning score of 637 followed by Spring Arbor (665), HU (667), Olivet Nazarene (688), IU Kokomo (691), Mount Vernon (721), Cornerstone (727) and Holy Cross (728).

Huntington is back in action on Saturday for the MVNU’s Cougar Fall Classic.
