HU Esports: First Season Ends with Back-to-Back Wins, Smash Advances to Play Offs
The first regular season of esports at Huntington University has concluded. Wednesday night, the HU Smash Bros. team defeated #5 Alma 2 to 0. Junior Jacob Farmer eliminated the entire Alma crew in a nine-stock streak to finish Game 1. Senior Jonathan Thomas relieved Farmer for the start of Game 2 with four KOs. Farmer’s signature King K. Rool returned in Round 3 to eliminate the rest of Alma’s remaining stocks for the win. The HU Smash team remains in position eight and advances to the first round of the playoffs. HU Overwatch ended their regular season with a 3-0 win over Saint Francis Wednesday night. Senior Tyler Brown delivered the highlight of the evening with a wild Dva ultimate for a Saint Francis triple-kill in Game 1. Click here to watch that moment and see his play of the game. HU would go on to win three straight games, defeating Saint Francis and securing 10th place in the GLEC Fall 21 Overwatch tournament.
