The Huntington men’s soccer team made the short trip to Bishop D’Arcy Stadium Wednesday night where they drew even with Saint Francis, 0-0, after a pair of OTs. It’s the Foresters’ third CL stalemate of the year as they move to 8-6-3 overall, 3-2-3 in Crossroads League action. The tie brings USF’s overall record 4-9-4 which includes a 0-6-2 record in league play.

While HU enjoyed 16 shots on the night, six on target and limited USF to just one shot on goal the entire match, it didn’t translate to any sort of difference on the scoreboard much to their chagrin.

Pablo Garcia and Higor Barbieri each finished with four shots, two on frame, while Jordan Morris tallied three shots. Gabe Greenfield tracked down a save on the way to posting the shutout in goal.

“Obviously when you get a valuable point on the road in this league, you’re somewhat pleased,” said Coach Russ Lawson. “But for as much ball as I thought we had throughout the match; we weren’t able to break them down.

“They’re a tricky team to deal with. They defend with all they’ve got, they’re very organized and they like to spring on the counter. Defensively, I thought we did a nice job of keeping our shape and staying disciplined. We generated plenty of quality opportunities – we just didn’t have that final piece to put it in the back of the net.”

With one match remaining, Lawson is confident his team will regroup quickly. “The boys are encouraged for what they have in front of them which is another chance at climbing up in the standings in our final regular season game this weekend.”

Huntington hits the road to face Goshen on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
