WOMEN’S SOCCER
It was a defensive battle Tuesday evening between the HU women’s soccer team and Lourdes that ended in a 0-0 draw at Wildcat Stadium.
No overtimes were played as lightning forced a stoppage of play after regulation. It’s the Foresters second tie of the season and fourth straight match that was deadlocked after regulation.
Offense was at a premium as twelve total shots were taken during the 90 minutes with the hosts posting eight to HU’s four. Kalaina Stephens finished with half Huntington’s shots, both of which were on target.
“We played well defensively throughout the match but we continue to struggle in the attacking third,” said Coach David Lewis. “When we strive to possess the ball, it looks good but when we try to force straight ahead balls, we lose possession.
“We’ll continue to work to improve our possession.”
With this tie, HU moves to 2-2-2. Next up is a trip to Grace Christian on Tuesday.
