WOMEN’S SOCCER
The Huntington women’s soccer team suffered their first loss of the season Tuesday afternoon at Good Field where the Manchester Spartans needed an extra period to get the 1-0 win over their guests. The golden goal came just two minutes into OT and snapped a seven-game win streak the Foresters held over MU.
It’s a game Coach Lewis and crew would like to have back as they outshot their hosts 15-5 which included two blasts that ricocheted off the crossbar in the final 30 minutes of regulation. Unfortunately, HU’s pay-off never came to fruition and the Spartans took full advantage of a restart in overtime to sizzle back netting for their second win of the season.
“It was a lethargic performance today,” said Coach David Lewis. “Credit to Manchester, they took advantage of a poor mark on their free kick and made it count.”
Ireland Aerni was charged with the loss in Frame. The rookie keeper finished with two saves.
The Foresters (2-1-1) are off until Saturday when they host Siena Heights at 1:00 p.m.
