Sophomore Emma Wilson ran two spectacular races over the weekend to be tabbed the Crossroads League Women’s Track Athlete of the Week.
The University of Illinois transfer was a double winner for the Foresters at the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open. In addition to winning the 1500 meters and 5000 meters, she also punched her ticket to the 2021 NAIA Outdoor T&F National Championships by hitting the “A” standard in both events.
Wilson ran to a first place finish in the 1500 meters by clocking in at 4:28.76 which proves the second best time nationally and in the HU record books. She also boasts the nation’s second best time in the 5000 meters having ran a 16:06.69 on Saturday. Her time also shattered the previous Huntington record by two minutes.
The Greencastle native racked up two CL indoor track weekly designations this past winter to go along with five CL cross country weekly honors in the fall.
