OUTDOOR TRACK & FIELD

The Forester track and field program kicked off its outdoor season at Cedarville University’s Yellow Jacket Collegiate Open on Saturday. With more than 20 schools at the meet representing a variety of divisions, the men took eighth with 33 points while the women finished ninth with having accumulated 27 points.

Emma Wilson was dominate for the Forester women. Not only was she a double winner, the sophomore transfer also hit “A” standards in both events to punch her ticket to NAIA Nationals. In the 1500 meters, her winning time of 4:28.76 landed her second in the HU record books. Shortly after in the 5000 meters, she ran away from the competition by clocking in at 16:06.69, nearly 50 seconds ahead of the second place finisher, in addition to crushing the previous Huntington record by two minutes.

Returning for her final outdoor season, Aspen Dirr ran to a fifth place finish in the 5000 meters by clocking in at 17:37.38 which proved a “B” standard and ranks her second in HU program history. Sydni Ausberry logged a top ten finish for Huntington in the 100 meters where she sprinted to ninth place in 12.54. The 4×400 meter relay team made up of Mia Ostopovich, Caitlyn Fisher, Siera Weathers and Meg McDonald also brought home a ninth place finish with a time of 4:23.78.

The 10,000 meters was the featured race for the Forester men. Adrien Gentie topped the field in 31:04.86 with teammates Haile Stutzman (31:07.96) and Kent Yoder (31:09.29) not far back to claim second and third place respectively. All three hit the “A” mark and rewrote the HU record books to claim spots two, three and four.

Cameron Worsham also reserved a spot at NAIA Nationals in the 110 meter hurdles with his “B” standard time of 14.83 which proved good for seventh place. It was a new PR for the senior and moved him from fifth to second in the HU history books.

Huntington was also well represented in pole vault where Bradey Gerke finished third with a mark of 4.51 meters and Kyler Bourne claimed eighth with his leap of 4.06 meters. Other top ten performances for HU included Josiah Sovine in the 800 meters (10th, 2:00.64) and Seth Parsell in javelin (10th, 41.54M).

HU is back in action on April 10 to compete in the Indiana Tech Invitational.
