INDOOR TRACK & FIELD

The HU indoor track and field program turned in several key performances over the weekend at the Crossroads League Indoor Championships to bring home three individual titles, a relay title and 13 All-Conference badges.

On the men’s side, Cameron Worsham took first in the 60 meter hurdles by clocking in at 8.21. In addition to earning All-Conference honors, the junior hurdler also posted the 13th fastest time across the nation for his performance over the weekend.

Reece Gibson also claimed an individual title, his in the 3000 meters where he ran an 8:37.30. Teammate Adrien Gentie was on his heels to finish second in 8:37.77 and also earn All-Conference honors.

Noah Bise had an All-Conference performance in long jump with his second-place leap of 7.07 meters  which also proved a new PR and broke the school record.

The Foresters had a solid outing in the mile by claiming three of the top five spots. Aaron Hendryx took third in 4:20.25 to record the fourth fastest time in HU history and earn All-Conference honors while Elijah Chesterman (4:20.92) and Haile Stutzman (4:23.23) finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Heath Atkins rounded out Huntington’s All-Conference honorees with his second place finish in the heptathlon by racking up 4333 points. He also earned points for his team in triple jump with his sixth place finish (12.48 meters).

Other point-getters for the Foresters included the distance medley relay (2nd, 10:18.35), Josiah Sovine in the 600 meters (7th, 1:25.09), Chesterman in the 800 meters (4th, 1:56.06), Kent Yoder in the 5000 meters (5th, 15:02.10), the 4×800 meter relay (7th, 8:55.14) and Kyler Bourne in pole vault (5th, 4.15 meters).

Marian claimed the men’s title with 162 points followed by Bethel (127), IWU (99), Grace (95), HU (87), Taylor (70), Spring Arbor (40), Goshen (35), Mount Vernon (33) and Saint Francis (29).

On the women’s side, Emma Wilson topped the field in the mile with her time of 4:59.04. She also teamed up with Sydney Lambert, Mia Ostopovich and Jessica Chojnacki to win the distance medley relay in 12:07.50 which stands as the fastest time in the NAIA this year. Wilson logged a third All-Conference medal in the 1000 meters with her second place finish in 2:53.42.

Huntington had a great showing in the pentathlon. Caitlyn Fisher finished third with 2206 points to be named All-Conference while Siera Weathers claimed fourth with 2088 points.

Other points-getters for HU included the 4×800 meter relay (2nd, 9:28.96), Sydni Ausberry in the 60 meters (4th, 8.01), Ostopovich in the 200 meters (5th, 26.55), Olivia Von Gunten in the 800 meters (7th, 2:26.77), Lambert in the 1000 meters (5th, 3:08.16), Chojnacki in the mile (7th, 5:19.36) and Saige Norris in the 3000 meters (7th, 11:03.39).

The Bethel Pilots were the women’s indoor champions with 120 points followed by Marian (115), Taylor (114), IWU (102), Grace (81), HU (66), Goshen (61), Spring Arbor (56), Saint Francis (39) and Mount Vernon (22).

Huntington wraps up their indoor season with the NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships on March 4-6 in Brookings, S.D.
