The Huntington indoor track and field program had a strong showing at the Midwest Classic hosted by Indiana Wesleyan over the weekend.

On the women’s side, Emma Wilson not only won the 3000 meters by clocking in at 9:45.65, her time also stands as the fastest time in the NAIA this season. The Greencastle native currently holds the fastest time across the country in the 1000 meters and mile as well.

Additionally, Wilson was part of the foursome that brought home first place in the distance medley relay in 12:17.76. She along with Amylia Ostopovich, Sydney Lambert and Jessica Chojnacki are sitting atop the NAIA in the DMR with Saturday’s performance.

Chojnacki and Lambert were also part of the 4×800 meter relay along with Olivia Von Gunten and Ireland Dodson that took 2nd on Saturday with a time of 10:04.91.

Sydni Ausberry sprinted to a 3rd place finish in the 60 meters with her time of 8.00. Saige Norris’ time of 5:37.11 in the mile earned the junior 7th place while Meg McDonald turned in an 8th place finish in the 600 meters in 1:46.37.

The Forester men also had multiple notable performances. Haile Stutzman ran a new PR in the 5000 meters to finish 2nd at the meet. His time of 14:52.32 is the third fastest in the NAIA this year. Aaron Hendryx finished 2nd in the mile by clocking in at 4:25.28 which lands him 14th among his NAIA peers across the nation.

Noah Bise represented HU in jumps where he placed 2nd in both long jump (7.00 meters) and triple jump (13.44). His long jump mark is the 11th best in the NAIA while his triple jump mark is a new school record.

The HU distance medley relay team of Stutzman, Josiah Sovine, Elijah Chesterman and Hendryx finished 2nd in 10:20.14 and garnered national attention as the 5th best time in the NAIA.

Cameron Worsham ran to a 3rd place finish in the 60 meter hurdles in 8.39. Other top ten finishes for Huntington included Sovine in the 600 meters (5th, 1:25.77), Kent Yoder in the 3000 meters (7th, 8:55.33), Heath Atkins in long jump (7th, 6.63 meters), Kyler Bourne in pole vault (8th, 4.05 meters and Riley Meek in the 60 meters (9th, 7.24).

Next up for HU is the Crossroads League Championships set for February 19-20. The men will compete at IWU and the women at Taylor.
