MEN’S SOCCER
It was sweet revenge for the Cougars of Saint Francis as they handed the #RV Forester men’s soccer team a 1-0 loss Wednesday night at Bishop D’Arcy Stadium. It’s the second time this fall these two squads have squared off with HU getting the best of USF 1-0 last month.
Just like the first time around, it was a defensive battle from start to finish with the lone goal on this given night coming by way of Ethan Vigario’s PK in the 50th minute. The senior midfielder has scored five goals and handed out four assists for 14 points so far this season.
Both teams generated seven shots on goal with HU recording a slight advantage in overall shots taken, 16-14.
Gabe Greenfield took the loss in net while Caleb Spencer posted the shutout win for the Cougars.
“This was a disappointing night in the attacking third for us,” said Coach Lawson. “Defensively, we were strong and we had plenty of the ball but did not create enough quality to breakdown USF.
“They capitalized on an opportunity and deserved the win.”
The Foresters (4-2-2) are back at it on Saturday with a home match against Taylor at 2:00 p.m.
