WOMEN’S SOCCER
The HU women’s soccer team was the aggressor Saturday afternoon at Ingold Complex but unfortunately that wasn’t reflected on the scoreboard as it read 1-0 in favor of the Goshen College Maple Leafs after 108 minutes of play.
With less than two minutes remaining in double OT, Litzy Corona struck gold for the hosts to give GC (1-3, 1-3) their first win of the season.
Huntington mustered a season-best 23 shots, 12 of which were on frame, while limiting Goshen to just nine shots on the afternoon. Avery Giguere fired off seven shots while Ashtyn Patrick piled up six. Between the pair, seven were on target.
Maddy Moan picked up the loss in net. She finished with three saves.
“We dominated possession throughout the match,” noted Coach Lewis. “Goshen sat back and looked the counter and unfortunately they made it happen for the win.”
The loss sends HU home with a 0-4-1 record overall and in CL play. Huntington is right back at it on Monday to host Grace at 4:00 p.m.
