MEN’S TENNIS – Forester Feed

The Forester men’s tennis team finished the regular season Saturday at MVNU’s Ramser Tennis Courts with a split to finish with a conference and overall record of 5-3 to secure the fourth spot in the CL regular season standings.

The stakes were high in HU’s first matchup of the day against Marian with third place in the standings on the line. The Foresters laid claim to the point in doubles to nab the early lead but the Knights were far from calling it quits. Alejo Bagnera made quick work of Camilo Mesa, 6-1, 6-2, at #1 singles to earn his team a second point but MU roared back to take four of the last five singles matches to mount the come-from-behind win.

The Foresters took out their disappointing loss on Mount Vernon 7-0 later in the day. It was Huntington’s third sweep of the year and guaranteed the fourth spot in the Crossroads League tournament next week. HU has blanked the Cougars every match since they started tennis back up in 2017.

The 4th-seeded Foresters will host 5th-seeded Spring Arbor in the quarterfinals of the CL tourney on Tuesday at Klopfenstein Courts. The first time these two teams met last Saturday, HU was victorious 6-1.
