CROSS COUNTRY

For the second straight year, the Huntington cross country program swept the season’s first Crossroads League Cross Country weekly honors.

HU sophomores Emma Wilson and Haile Stutzman each won their respective race at the IWU Twilight to be tabbed the CL Women’s and Men’s Runners of the Week respectively.

In her debut in Forester green and white, Wilson navigated Indiana Wesleyan’s course in 17:01 to not only set a new course record but establish a new Forester 5K program record as well. The sophomore transfer topped the field of 180 runners with more than 50 seconds separating her from the second place finisher.

Out of 214 runners on the men’s side, Stutzman posted a winning 8K time of 25:05 for an average mile pace of 5:02. The Silverton (Ore.) native led the 17th-ranked Foresters to a second place finish out of 18 teams.

Last year, Adrien Gentie and Hannah Stoffel were named the league’s first Runners of the Week for their outstanding performance at Manchester University’s Hokum Karem.
