New Faculty in the Institute of Christian Thought and Practice

The Institute for Christian Thought and Practice is pleased to welcome two new faculty members. Dr. Stephen J. Bennett has been hired as professor of Old Testament and ministry. He taught Old Testament at Nyack College for many years, has been part of the faculty at the Asia Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary in the Philippines, and has taught as an adjunct at several Nazarene institutions. Bennett has also served as a pastor in local churches for much of his vocational life. A native of New Zealand, Bennett earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Auckland University, a Master of Divinity degree from Nazarene Theological Seminary, and his PhD in Old Testament from the University of Manchester, England.

Dr. Tedla G. Woldeyohannes has accepted a position as visiting assistant professor of philosophy. He earned his bachelor’s degree in theology from Evangelical Theological College in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Woldeyohannes continued his education in the U.S., receiving a Master of Arts degreeĀ  in philosophy from Biola University, a Master of Arts degree in philosophy from Western Michigan University, and his PhD in philosophy from Saint Louis University. He has taught a variety of courses in philosophy at numerous institutions, but his specialties include epistemology and philosophy of religion.

Bennett and Woldeyohannes are both published scholars with a great deal of experience delivering academic papers. Their commitment to Christ and enthusiasm for teaching will enrich the lives of HU students, as well as faculty and staff.
