Mission Moment

Two major building projects commenced last week…demolition work began for the HUB and site development began for the Strauss Animal Science Education Center. In the midst of challenge and hardship, it can be difficult to think beyond today. While we clearly need to face the challenges and hardships of today, it is also important to plan for tomorrow. This is especially true for a university that is still called to fulfill its mission and follow the path of the Faith Forward strategic plan. We all know the story of Noah and his ultimate project of building the ark. I am sure that Noah still faced daily challenges of family life, fatigue, and uncertainty that could have distracted him and taken him away from the mission to build the ark. However, Noah knew his mission, stayed true to it, and obviously provided hope for many generations. While our building projects are not that of an ark-like capacity, our projects are signs of hope and a vibrant future for our students and campus community. Isaiah 52:12 reminds us that “the LORD will go before you, the God of Israel will be your rear guard.” God clearly has us surrounded under his protection and love during this current challenge associated with COVID-19, making sure Huntington University has the opportunity to fulfill its mission of Christ. Scholarship. Service.
