TRACK & FIELD
After being named the Crossroads League Indoor Track Athlete of the Week earlier this week, HU junior Hannah Stoffel was tabbed the National Indoor Track Athlete of the Week as announced by the NAIA earlier today.
Stoffel had several epic performances at the Crossroads League Championships over the weekend to garner the national attention. On Friday, she easily won the 600 meters by clocking in at 1:31.56 and then anchored the winning distance medley relay team.
On Saturday, Stoffel ran away from her competition in the 800 meters (2:15.07) and 1000 meters (2:44.81) for two more conference titles. When all was said and done, she was a four-time conference champion, set new school and meet records in all four events and turned in the best time in the NAIA this season in the 600, 1K and DMR.
For Stoffel, it’s her second national weekly honor as the Huntington native was also voted the National Cross Country Runner of the week this past September.
