Mission Moment
The Doctoral Program in Occupational Therapy for Huntington University is a trailblazer in numerous ways. In addition to representing the University’s first doctorate-level program, it also signaled the beginning of a long-term footprint for Huntington University in Fort Wayne. With a ribbon cutting ceremony that took place on July 14, 2014, the University expanded our geographic space, prepared students for new and exciting opportunities, and created the prospect for a greater impact for God….all directly in alignment with our mission of Christ, Scholarship, and Service.
In an article about the ribbon cutting from a little over five years ago, a comment was made about the facility being “sawdust” just six months earlier. Since that time, the program has gone from being a figment of HU’s vision to a thriving, highly successful program. So much so that an expansion of the program is planned to begin in just barely over a year in Peoria, Arizona. While there is still some “sawdust” in the space the program will occupy in Arizona right now, God will surely bless this opportunity as He has our program in Fort Wayne. 1 Timothy 1:12 reads, “I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service.” Huntington University has done its level best to be faithful and trustworthy, sometimes through bold steps and new programs, in all that we do to glorify Christ through Scholarship and Service.
