CROSS COUNTRY

For the fourth time this year, the Foresters swept the Crossroads League weekly cross country honors with junior Hannah Stoffel getting the women’s vote and freshman Haile Stutzman receiving it on the men’s side. It’s the second time this combo has earned Runner of the Week honors the same week.

For Stoffel, it’s her fourth CL weekly badge. This week’s accolade was based on her first-place performance at the Bethel University Invitational. In addition to beating her nearest competitor by over a minute, she also set a new course record at St. Patrick’s County Park, the site of this year’s Crossroads League Championships.

The junior transfer clocked in at 17:32.7 to top the field of 217 runners and guide the 17th-ranked Foresters to a second place finish out of 20 teams.

Stutzman has been deemed the Runner of the Week three times so far this season. He ran to a second place finish out of 218 runners at the BU Invite by posting a 25:64.7. His classmate Kent Yoder took fourth as the rookie duo paced Johnson’s crew to second place out of 16 teams.

The Foresters are slated to run in the Great Lakes Challenge in Grand Rapids on October 26.
