Huntington University senior Konner Platt (Huntington North HS, Huntington, Ind.) was one of ten Crossroads League men’s basketball players to be named to the Preseason All-League Team as voted on the by league’s head coaches.
The 6-2 guard led the Foresters in scoring last year by dropping in 16.4 points per night, the 13th best in the Crossroads League. Known around the league as one of the deadliest shooters from deep, he buried a team-best 74 threes at a clip of 43.0 percent to rank 7th among his CL peers in 3-point field goals made per game at 2.47.
In addition to his scoring prowess, Platt also dished out 2.6 assists and pulled down 4.3 rebounds per game in 2019-20.
Platt, an Honorable Mention pick last year, enters the season 29th on HU’s all-time scoring list with 1,288 career points. He along with his grandfather Steve Platt hold the program record for most points scored in a half with 30, a feat the younger Platt accomplished in December of 2016 against Wright State Lake.
After finishing 6-12 in league play last season for the 7th spot in the CL regular season standings, Platt’s crew is picked to finish 9th in this year’s preseason standings with Spring Arbor, as the 2019 NAIA National Champions, getting the early nod for the top spot. The Foresters kick-off their season on October 31 by hosting Ohio University Chillicothe at 7:00 p.m.
