CROSS COUNTRY

For the third time this season, Huntington University swept the Crossroads League weekly cross country honors. Junior Hannah Stoffel was tabbed this week’s Runner of the Week on the women’s side while freshman Haile Stutzman earned the same accolade on the men’s side.

Despite battling windy/chilly conditions and a muddy course, Stoffel turned in the best NAIA women’s 5K time of the weekend by clocking in at 17:38 at the Loyola Lakefront Classic. Competing primarily against NCAA DI foes, the Huntington native finished third out of 157 runners.

Stoffel has earned this CL designation three of the five times it’s been doled out this season.

For Stutzman, it’s his second Crossroads League badge of the year. The rookie from Oregon posted an 8K time of 25:43 on Saturday, the best time turned in by an NAIA freshman this weekend, to finish 23rd out of 127 runners.

The Foresters are back in action on October 11 to compete in the Bethel University Invitational.
