The HU baseball team swept the league’s weekly honors for the week of April 22 as announced by the Crossroads League office earlier today. Senior Donovan Clark was named this week’s Player of the Week while junior Alex McCutcheon garnered Pitcher of the Week honors.

Clark led the #RV Foresters to a 3-1 record last week by hitting .600 with nine hits in 15 at bats in addition to scoring four times and knocking in a pair of runs. The Fort Wayne native (Southside HS) currently ranks second nationally in stolen bases with his .794 average. To date he has swiped 27 bags.

For McCutcheon (8-1), this is his second CL Pitcher of the Week accolade with the first dating back to the week of April 22. The southpaw hurler fired a three-hit complete-game shutout in an 11-0 win over Saint Francis on Friday. He fanned nine of the 22 batters he faced while walking one.

The Huntington North product ranks 11th in the NAIA in earned run average (1.80) and total runs allowed (15). He also holds four other top 30 rankings at the national level.

With four regular season league games remaining, HU (23-11) currently tops the Crossroads League with a conference record of 17-6, a game ahead of second place Mount Vernon. The Foresters are back in action tonight at Forest Glen to host Saint Francis at 7:00 p.m.
