WOMEN’S GOLF

The Forester women’s golf team was back in action on Monday to compete in the Taylor-hosted Ackerman-Allen Shootout where they claimed eighth with a 699.

Betsy Schroeder had a solid outing by firing a 12-over-par 156 (79-77) to finish tenth out of 39 golfers. Over the course of two rounds, she sank three birdies and tallied 18 pars. Alexandria Maris turned in 173 by posting an 87 and 86.

Leah Thompson carded a 176 (85-91) while Megan Higgins rounded out Sholund’s squad with a 194 (97-97).

“I’m proud of how the ladies have been competing and fighting for every stroke these last few events,” said Sholund. “We have been short-handed due to injury and they continue to be focused on our goals.

“Congrats to Betsy as she tied her 36-hole school record again. She has continued to put herself in position for great rounds this spring and is really coming into her own right now. We will tee it up at Cobblestone on Thursday in preparation for conference next week!”

Taylor claimed their own invitational with a 598 followed by Marian (618), Saint Francis (622), Olivet Nazarene (637), Spring Arbor (663), Taylor B (673), Mount Vernon (685) and HU (699).

Huntington hosts its Forester Spring Invitational at Cobblestone Golf Course on Thursday before wrapping the year up with the Crossroads League Tournament on April 22-23.
