MEN’S GOLF

The Huntington men’s golf team finished 7th over the weekend at the Saint Francis-hosted Otter Creek Intercollegiate at Timbergate Golf Course. Sholund’s crew followed up their 319 on Friday by posting a 312 on day two for a 55-over-par 631.

Logan De Maa paced HU by finishing 9th overall with a 148 which included firing a one-under-par 71 on Saturday. Cale Carr shot a 75 each round to turn in a 150 for the 12th spot out of 43 golfers.

Andrew Weisheit carded a 161 (83, 78). Rounding out HU’s top five included David Beck with a 172 (84, 88) and Nick Whitney with a 182 (93, 89).

“We are really proud of the guys this weekend,” said Coach Sholund. “They did a good job managing the golf course and limiting mistakes.

“We work on staying in the moment and we did a nice job of that in this event. Congratulations to Logan for the first sub-par round of his collegiate career. The guys are excited to start back up at the Brickyard on Monday.”

Indiana Wesleyan claimed the title by posting a 585 followed by Saint Francis (588), Olivet Nazarene (591), Grace (609), Mount Vernon (610), Spring Arbor (610), HU (631) and Indiana Wesleyan B (632).

Sholund’s crew has a day off before competing in The Wildcat Cup at the Brickyard on April 8-9.
