WOMEN’S GOLF

The Huntington women’s golf team opened up the spring portion of their season at Taylor University’s Purgatory Intercollegiate by firing a 361 on Friday for 9th place. Rain forced day two to be cancelled.

Betsy Schroeder paced Sholund’s crew with an 83. Two strokes back was Alexandria Maris with an 85. Rachel Blauert carded a 95. Megan Higgins and Sara Scott posted a 98 and 101 respectively to round out HU’s scores.

“We had a good first nine which we can build on and work on finishing better,” said Coach Sholund. “This was a string field and a good opportunity to see the things we need to work on.

“Improvement in our game around the greens will help the scores stay in the zone they need to be in. I’m excited to work on those things this week in practice as we prepare for our Otter Creek and then the Brickyard.”

Next up for the Foresters is the Otter Creek Intercollegiate in Columbus, Ind. on April 5-6.
