TRACK & FIELD
Huntington University senior Aspen Dirr had a monumental weekend at the Crossroads League Indoor Track & Field Championships and for her efforts was named the Crossroads League Women’s Track Athlete of the Week.
Dirr opened up the weekend by anchoring the distance medley relay team on Friday where she split a 4:56 mile to will her team to the win. They clocked in at 12:28.97, five seconds ahead of their nearest competitor, to set a new CL meet and HU record as well as hit the NAIA A standard.
On Saturday, she established two more meet and Huntington records by winning the mile in 5:02.71 and then the 3,000 meters in 10:21.34. She hit the NAIA A standard in both races. For the weekend, she earned three All-Conference badges.
Most impressive about Dirr’s performance was that she had two of the nation’s top 5 mile times on back-to-back days and then came back for her third race to run the 9th fastest 3K in the nation.
Over the course of the indoor season, the Hudson native has qualified for the 2019 NAIA National Championships in four individual events and one relay.
