A handful of Huntington track and field athletes braved the weather to travel to Fort Wayne to compete in Purdue Fort Wayne’s Fort Wayne Duals over the weekend. The meet included several NCAA Division I and II institutions.

On the men’s side, Huntington finished with 26 points to place fourth out of six teams. Peyton Depriest topped Coach Childs’ crew by earning points in a pair of events. The sophomore speedster won the 400 meters in 51.93 and then claimed fourth in the 200 meters by clocking in at 23.29.

Avniel Barrow also brought home a first place finish by winning the 60 meters in 7.04. Andrew Zachary earned a pair of second place finishes in the 400 meters, where he ran a PR of 52.30, and the 200 meters. His 22.93 time in the 200 meters is the second fastest time in program history.

Lars In’t Groen also landed a spot in the history books in shot put with this second place throw of 13.47 meters which slides him into the 7th spot.

Other Foresters to earn points for HU included Cameron Worsham in the 60 meters hurdles (2nd, 8.72), Heath Atkins in long jump (3rd, 6.10 meters) and Connor Nash in pole vault (4th, 3.81 meters).

Holly Holton was the lone Forester on the women’s squad to score. The junior thrower claimed fourth in the weight throw with a heave of 11.22 meters.

Huntington is back in action on February 2 to compete in the Anderson University Invitational.
