Emergency Notification System Color Codes

Did you know that HU uses color codes as part of its emergency notification messages? Red, orange, yellow, and green color codes are used to help distinguish between the severity levels of various events. Here is an explanation of what each of these color codes represents.

RED

The RED color code is used when there is a threatening situation at or near an HU location. Situations such as an active shooter threat or other non-weather-related threats would be included with this color code.

ORANGE

The ORANGE color code is used when there is a threatening weather situation at or near an HU location. Situations such as earthquakes, flooding, tornados, thunderstorms, and wildfires would be included with this color code.

YELLOW

The YELLOW color code is used when there is a non-threatening but service impacting event at or near an HU location. Situations such as boil water advisories, power outages, and other water service related situations would be included with this color code.

GREEN

The GREEN color code is used to give the ALL CLEAR after an event has concluded and all services are back to normal operation.
