Auditions for “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”

Auditions for the exciting and wildly popular musical, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” are open to all HU students, faculty, staff, alumni and Huntington Community Members (ages 17 and up).

DATE: Wednesday, September 26, 2018
TIME: 6:30-10:30PM
LOCATION: Acting Lab – MCA 160

SEEKING: Seeking talented and highly energetic musical theatre performers. Strong/advanced singing skills and the ability to read music is needed for all lead roles. Leads also need to be able to appropriately interpret the pop style of the score. Good to strong singing abilities needed for ensemble members. Strong movement/dance skills are highly desired for all but those with limited skills in this area may still be cast. We are looking for a multi-racial cast reflecting diversity on our campus and diversity in our community.

WHAT TO PREPARE: Please prepare to sing a 32 bar cut (basically one verse and chorus) from any musical theatre song of your choice. Your audition song must be memorized. Up-tempo songs are strongly preferred. An accompanist will be provided. Bring a copy of your sheet music with you, bound neatly in a 3 ring folder. Please stretch out and warm up your muscles prior to dance audition. Dance auditions are required for all those auditioning.

AUDITION INSTRUCTIONS: Please sign up for a singng audition slot on the theatre callboard. Please arrive early to your designated audition slot to fill out an audition form. All need to return to Acting Lab at 8:15PM after the singing auditions have ended.

Audition Schedule – All located in M160 (Acting Lab)
6:30-8:00PM – Individual singing auditions
8:15PM – Callback announced and further instructions to all auditioning
8:30-9:30PM – Dance auditions
9:30-10:30PM – Vocal callbacks

Rehearsals begin Monday, October 1 and run up to performances, November 14-17. The audition sign-up sheet is posted to the theatre callboard along with other detailed audition information. The theatre callboard is located in the lower level of the MCA, next to the theatre/broadcast department offices.
