WOMEN’S SOCCER

The Forester women’s soccer team (1-3) struck first but it was a short-lived advantage as #RV Siena Heights (3-0) scored twice within the next 20 minutes to enjoy a 2-1 win Wednesday afternoon at King Stadium.

HU’s lone goal came on a beautiful struck ball at the foot of Jordan Adam less than seven minutes in on an assist from Courtney McKown.

The celebration was short-lived, however, as the Saints’ equalizer came just over 60 seconds later after which they found back netting again at the 26:08 mark. Offense was limited to those 26 minutes as the scoreboard didn’t change after that.

Shots were nearly equal with SHU holding a slight 17-16 advantage. Shots on target were also nearly identical with the Saints logging 13 to HU’s 11.

Autumn Demott took the loss in net. The senior keeper finished with 11 saves.

“Today’s loss came at the hand of a talented well-organized side in Siena Heights,” said Coach Burge. “That said, our ladies possessed well, were able to score early and battled through rough weather conditions. In all, we were pleased are looking forward to this weekend.”

Burge’s crew heads to Michigan this weekend to take on Cornerstone on Friday and Aquinas on Saturday.
