The HU women’s golf team wrapped up the year with a 7th place finish at the Crossroads League Tournament. The 54-hole two-day event was hosted at Glendarin Golf Club in Angola and saw the Foresters shoot under 350 each round to finish with a 1,043 (349-346-348).
Abby Poole carded a 257 (89-80-88) for 28th out of 41 golfers to pace Sholund’s crew. Two strokes back was Leah Thompson with a 259 (83-89-87). Alexandria Maris turned in a 262 (90-89-83). Betsey Schroeder posted a 266 (87-89-90) while Megan Higgins finished with a 274 (94-88-92).
Coach Sholund is proud of his team and the improvement they made, especially this spring. “Our last nine holes of the final two round taught us who we are as a team.
“We are tough and can compete. The girls showed themselves that they can turn momentum in their favor during adversity. I know they will focus on the things they each need to and be ready for next fall. I am very pleased and proud of the progress we made this year.”
Taylor claimed their second straight CL title by firing a 960 following by Marian (978), Indiana Wesleyan (980), Grace (982), Saint Francis (988), Bethel (990), HU (1043) and Spring Arbor (1050).
