With the regular season winding down, the Forester baseball team suffered an 11-6 loss to Marian University Monday afternoon in a contest that had no bearing on the final league standings. HU (18-21, 16-9), with Spring Arbor yet to play, is a lock for the No. 3 spot in the league standings.

After playing to a 1-1 tie through the first three frames, it was the next three frames that determined the outcome as the Knights erupted for seven runs to HU’s one for an 8-2 difference. While Huntington would go on to outscore their hosts 4-3 in the final three innings, it was too little too late.

DJ Moore pitched the fourth and fifth inning during which he gave up five hits, four runs and a walk while striking out three for the loss. Mason Shinabery tossed the first three frames while Nick Davit took to the hill for the final three frames.

Five of Marian’s runs came by way of the long ball with Carson Davis posting two solo shots for his team’s first two runs and then Leo Lopez’s dinger in the sixth good for three runs.

Adam Roser and Adrian Perez each knocked in a run for Huntington, Roser with a double in the first and Perez a single in the sixth. Huntington would go on to find home four more times in the later innings to close the gap from nine to five runs by game’s end.

Donovan Clark finished with two hits which included an RBI-single in the ninth. Weaver also collected a pair of hits while scoring twice. Matt Kunce added a run-scoring hit while Jake Hansen also logged an RBI, his on a ground out.

Huntington will wrap up the regular season tomorrow at Spring Arbor with a single nine at 3PM.
