PEER AWARD Recipients for November
Recipients of the Huntington University PEER AWARD for the month of November are Nancy Barnes and Shoshannah McKinney.
Steve Pozezanac passed the PEER AWARD to Nancy Barnes. Nancy serves as Secretary to the Music Department and has been with HU for 11 years. In recognizing Nancy, Steve writes, “Like so many who work here, Nancy always views her employment as more than just a job. She is an ambassador for the University to all who walk through the Music Dept. doors. She is an inspiration to me the way she is always there for the students and their parents. It is humbling to watch her work. Recently I approached her about possibly decorating the guest sign-in podium for Dr. Emberton’s inauguration. She eagerly said she would be glad to help. Nancy did more than help, she designed and embroidered a banner to hang on the podium signifying Dr. Emberton’s day. She just wanted to do something special for Dr. Emberton and hopefully give her something to help make the day just a little more special. No one asked Nancy to do this, she just wanted to.”
Dr. Evelyn Priddy passed the PEER AWARD to Shoshannah McKinney. Shoshanna serves as Associate Director of TESOL and International Admissions Counselor and has been with HU for a year. In recognizing Shoshannah, Evelyn writes, “I am recognizing Shoshannah McKinney for her dedication and commitment to our Huntington University students and to the English Learners (EL) around the world. Her enthusiasm for meeting language needs is infectious. I feel it each time that I talk with her about working with the EL students. I hear the same response in our students’ conversations. One student told me that she “fell in love with the TESOL studies.” She said that she couldn’t see herself doing anything else, and she quickly added that it was because Shoshannah McKinney made it seem so real. “She really cares about the students, particularly those who are speaking English as a second language,” another student shared. “It is so great to have her on campus.” I agree! It is great that Shoshannah chose Huntington University, her alma mater, as the place where she is sharing her God-given gifts and talents.”
