Digital Media Arts & YFC film announcement

Dear Campus Community,

This is just a friendly reminder that next week the DMA Film Production majors are participating in a week long project – a film for the national office of Youth For Christ. Seven film production professionals are traveling here to mentor and teach our students while we work together. For example we have Jim Orr coming on the crew to be the director of photography. He is currently the director of photography on the hit TV show “Duck Dynasty”.

The film will be shown in film festivals and used at the National Convention of YFC and on their website to launch a campaign encouraging new mentors to join YFC. This film will travel far from Huntington and be seen by many, promoting our university as it is shown across the country. We hope to show this film to the HU community at our Spring Showcase.

This department film will provide a learning experience to our film majors as a part of our fall semester course work. It is very important to us that they are present next week as much as possible. We appreciate your grace and understanding as the students ask you for permission to make up their work.

We would like to invite all of you to stop over and see our production in process. Please email Prof. Dawn Ford if you would like to visit our set. We are filming in Becker Hall and also in and around two college houses on Himes street.

All film majors must attend the Monday workshop. The remainder of the week they will be released from the film production to attend classes but are asked to return to the production as soon as possible to resume their position on the crew.

Prof. Dawn Ford is producing this film and I am directing. Please email me with any questions that you have.
